In preparation for New Zealand’s forthcoming tour of Bangladesh, a three-member delegation from the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) visited Dhaka before returning last night. This was confirmed by Shahriar Nafis, Manager of Cricket Operations at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The NZC representatives conducted a detailed inspection of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, followed by a visit to the Chittagong venue the next day. Such pre-tour visits are standard practice for international series, allowing visiting teams and security officials to review match and practice facilities, accommodation arrangements, travel routes to stadiums, and overall security measures.
This visit forms part of the ongoing coordination between the two cricket boards. Preliminary discussions between BCB and NZC have already outlined a tentative schedule for the series, which has now been largely finalised.
According to the plan, the New Zealand national team will arrive in Bangladesh on 13 April, marking the start of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series. All matches in the series are scheduled to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
| Match | Date | Venue | Start Time (Local) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | 17 April | Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur | 3:00 PM |
| 2nd | 20 April | Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur | 3:00 PM |
| 3rd | 23 April | Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur | 3:00 PM |
The tour follows closely on the heels of Bangladesh’s recent series against Pakistan, giving local fans a chance to witness back-to-back international fixtures. Officials from both boards have stressed that all venues meet international standards, and security measures have been carefully reviewed to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators alike.
The New Zealand delegation’s visit included discussions with BCB officials on logistical arrangements, stadium operations, and other organisational details. This thorough planning ensures that the series runs smoothly and that both teams can focus solely on their performance on the field.
Cricket enthusiasts in Bangladesh are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the New Zealand squad. The ODIs will provide an opportunity for Bangladeshi players to test themselves against a highly competitive side, adding momentum and experience ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
With the series scheduled over a week in April, fans can expect exciting cricket action in Mirpur, continuing the country’s growing reputation as a host for major international cricket events. This series not only strengthens ties between the two boards but also showcases Bangladesh’s organisational capabilities and enthusiasm for the sport on a global stage.
