Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. is poised to make a long-awaited return to the national team, nearly 22 months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in October 2023 during a World Cup qualifying match. Following the injury, Neymar had not played for Brazil, and although he was considered for the June FIFA window, coach Carlo Ancelotti decided against his inclusion, citing that the forward was not yet fully fit.
According to Brazilian media outlet O Globo, Ancelotti has included the Santos striker in his extensive squad list, which the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) will submit to FIFA. The 33-year-old has regained strong form at club level, and Neymar may officially feature in Brazil’s squad announcement on 25 August.
