US President Donald Trump has stated that there are no plans to launch an attack on Venezuela. He made the remarks on Friday (31 October) while responding to questions from journalists.
Trump’s comment came despite the recent increase in joint military exercises with neighbouring countries of Venezuela and the heightened presence of US armed forces in the region.
Recently, the American newspaper Miami Herald reported that President Trump had decided to carry out attacks on military installations inside Venezuela, suggesting that such strikes could occur at any moment. However, the US President has dismissed that possibility.
In September, Washington began anti-narcotics operations across the Caribbean region and the eastern Pacific Ocean. So far, at least 62 people have been killed in these operations, and 15 vessels have been destroyed.
