Nurul’s Heroics Secure Remarkable Victory for Durbar

Published: 07 Feb 2026, 06:27 am

In a contest that seemed destined to conclude in the shadows of a clinical Dhumketu XI performance, Nurul Hasan produced a display of pure cricketing alchemy to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. In a high-stakes encounter at Mirpur, Durbar overcame a perilous mid-innings collapse to defeat a Dhumketu side boasting several national stalwarts by two wickets, propelled by a late-over onslaught that left spectators and opponents alike in a state of disbelief.

A Steep Mountain to Climb

Chasing a target of 156, Durbar’s pursuit appeared to have stalled fatally when they slumped to 81-6. The Dhumketu bowling attack, led by a relentless Mahedi Hasan, exploited the conditions with surgical precision. Mahedi’s spell was a masterclass in restrictive spin bowling, as he claimed 4 wickets for a mere 11 runs across his four overs, effectively stifling the Durbar top order.

However, Nurul Hasan refused to subscribe to the prevailing narrative of a Dhumketu triumph. Initially anchoring the innings with a steady 41-pact with Mohammad Saifuddin, Nurul’s role shifted from stabilizer to aggressor when Saifuddin departed in the 18th over. With 36 runs required from the final 12 deliveries, the equation bordered on the impossible.

The Penultimate Over Explosion

The 19th over, delivered by the experienced Shoriful Islam, proved to be the turning point. In a breathtaking display of power hitting, Nurul plundered 26 runs in a single over, including four colossal sixes. This barrage completely shifted the momentum, reducing the final over requirement to a mere formality. Nurul remained the protagonist until the end, finishing on an unbeaten 76 from just 44 balls—an innings decorated with four boundaries and six maximums.

Earlier Exchanges at Mirpur

Earlier in the day, Dhumketu XI struggled to find fluency on a surface that offered assistance to the disciplined Durbar bowlers. Litton Das provided a solid foundation with a gritty 43 off 37 balls, but the anticipated acceleration from the middle order never truly materialized. Useful cameos from Mahedi Hasan (31 not out) and Saif Hassan (28) eventually pushed the total beyond the 150-mark, a score that felt defendable until Nurul’s late-night intervention.

The Durbar bowling unit, spearheading by Hasan Mahmud and the economical Tanvir Islam, kept the national stars in check, ensuring the required run rate remained within the realm of possibility, however slim it seemed during the middle overs.

Championship Implications

This result carries immense weight for the tournament standings. Barring a monumental, large-margin victory for Akbar Ali’s Duronto in their upcoming fixture against Durbar, these two sides are now widely expected to face each other again in the grand final.
