A mobile court has fined an individual 1 million taka for illegally extracting sand in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. The court was conducted on Wednesday evening in Shyamagram Union of Nabinagar Upazila by Manas Chandra Das, Assistant Commissioner and Senior Executive Magistrate of the District Commissioner’s Office.
He stated that during the operation of the mobile court, sand extraction was observed in an area outside the scheduled site adjacent to Nasirabad sand yard in the union. This is a clear violation of Section 11 of the Sand and Soil Management Act, 2010.
Under the law, Dalim Mia (34), son of Md. Mintu Mia from Nasirabad village, was found guilty under Section 15(1) and fined 1 million taka, with a five-month imprisonment in default of payment. The magistrate confirmed that the fine was collected immediately.
