Open Shooting in Adamjee: Shooter Sohag Arrested After a Long 10 Months

Adamjee, Narayanganj – A notorious figure involved in a high-profile armed clash at Adamjee EPZ nearly ten months ago has finally been apprehended. Sohag, also known as “Shooter Sohag” (34), was arrested by a joint law enforcement team on Tuesday, following his public shooting spree over a business dispute in the jute sector. He is widely recognised as the cousin of Rakibur Rahman Sagar, former president of the Narayanganj Metropolitan Chhatra Dal, and was a key accomplice in the violent incident.

Sohag was detained from Kadamtali, Siddhirganj, along with two associates, Abdul Jalil (32) and Md. Parvez (25), all residents of different areas under Siddhirganj Police Station.

According to police, the original incident occurred in March 2025 at a garment factory named Universal within Adamjee EPZ. The clash erupted over control and dominance of the jute business there, with both sides exchanging gunfire in public. At least eight people sustained injuries, several motorcycles were damaged, and fires were set during the altercation. Footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, prompting Sohag to go into hiding. Locals reported that he returned to the area after a brief period underground.

Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Barik said: “Acting on confidential intelligence, we conducted an early morning operation in Kadamtali, arresting Sohag along with his two associates. They were found to be under the influence of drugs. No firearms were recovered at the time, but 120 yaba tablets weighing approximately 12 grams, with an estimated street value of 36,000 Taka, were seized. Cases under the Narcotics Control Act have been filed.”

He added that Sohag has an extensive criminal record, including previous drug and criminal cases. Both Jalil and Parvez also face pending charges for drug-related and other offences. “Sohag has denied possession of any firearms. Remand will be sought, and if weapons are recovered later, further cases under arms law will be filed,” OC Barik confirmed.
