Operations of Four Hospitals and Diagnostic Centers Suspended in Cumilla for Irregularities

The district administration and the health department have temporarily suspended the operations of four private hospitals and diagnostic centers in Chandina upazila of Cumilla due to various irregularities in the health sector.

The institutions ordered to suspend operations temporarily are— Ibn Sina Hospital, New Chandina Medical Center (Insaf Community Hospital), an unnamed private hospital, and Doa Diagnostic Center.

The operation was conducted by Cumilla Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Reza Mohammad Sarwar Akbar. He confirmed the matter on Friday.

According to sources, several institutions lacked valid licenses, did not have price lists in Bangla, lacked pathology lab refrigerators and color-code bins, had no technicians in X-ray rooms, failed to inform the health department after detecting dengue patients, used expired reagents, and some facilities did not even have doctors, technicians, or cleaners. For these reasons, their operations were halted.

Dr. Reza Mohammad Sarwar Akbar said, “Due to multiple irregularities, the operations of four institutions have been temporarily suspended. They have been instructed to correct all deficiencies within seven days and submit a report to the Civil Surgeon’s office.”

He further stated that regular inspections will continue across the district in private hospitals and diagnostic centers to ensure quality healthcare services.
