P Nation’s first girl group ‘Baby DONT Cry’ surges ahead as a rising K-pop force

SEATTLE – Over the past decade, K-pop has taken the global music landscape by storm, driven by powerhouse names such as BTS, BLACKPINK and TWICE. Yet long before this worldwide boom, artist PSY had already introduced K-pop to a global audience with his 2012 megahit ‘Gangnam Style’. Since then, he has continued to release new tracks, and in 2018 he founded his own company, P NATION, which quickly became known as a creative home for some of the industry’s top talents.

However, one key element was missing from the label—its own girl group. That changed earlier this year, when P NATION officially debuted its first girl group, Baby DONT Cry, in April. The four-member group launched under PSY’s direct guidance, and the members shared with FOX 13 that they have learnt significantly from his stage experience, work ethic, and artistic insight. Group leader Yihyun explained that PSY consistently encouraged each of them to develop their individuality and reminded them to enjoy every performance without regret.

Their debut track, titled ‘F Girl’, proved to be an immediate hit. Within just four days, the music video surpassed 20 million views on YouTube, and at the time of reporting it has reached 28 million views—solidifying the group’s early impact within the industry. Yihyun noted that the song’s unique and catchy style felt like a perfect match for showcasing their bold, confident identity.

Baby DONT Cry recently released their comeback single ‘I DONT CARE’, a track centred on determination and the pursuit of dreams. Member Mia expressed hopes of presenting their free-spirited, energetic side through this release. The song, launched on 19 November, maintains their pop-focused debut sound while incorporating a light rock influence.

With members aged between 17 and 19, their youthful perspectives naturally shape their musical expression. Member Beni explained that ‘I DONT CARE’ conveys honesty, confidence and a strong commitment to remaining true to themselves. Japanese member Kumi shared that the track carries personal significance for her, as singing the chorus feels like cheering herself on and encouraging greater self-belief.

Although less than a year has passed since their debut, the members say their experiences on stage have already transformed their confidence. Beni mentioned that she previously worried excessively about judgement, but multiple performances taught her that enjoying the moment is what truly matters.

The music video for ‘I DONT CARE’ has surpassed 14 million views within two weeks of release—an impressive milestone for a newly-debuted group. The members expressed gratitude towards their fanbase, known as Cherries, and promised to continue growing and presenting even stronger performances in the future.
