Pakistan has responded to the death sentence given to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was removed from power during the July uprising. The country has stated that the verdict, related to crimes against humanity, is an internal matter for Bangladesh. Reported by The Dawn.
On Friday (21 November), during a weekly press briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andarabi said, “This is an internal matter of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh are best suited to resolve their own issues.”
He further added, “The death sentence of Sheikh Hasina is an internal matter of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh are capable of addressing this crisis through democratic and constitutional processes.”
Earlier, on Monday, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced the deposed Sheikh Hasina to death in a crimes-against-humanity case related to the July uprising.
