Young musician Romaisa Tariq from Lahore has secured a place among the top 16 contestants on the popular reality show ‘Pakistan Idol’. She has revealed that her life has changed significantly since participating in the competition.
Romaisa said, “Now wherever I go, everyone recognises me. It’s a wonderful feeling, although sometimes I face amusing challenges. Pakistan Idol has added colour to my life.”
Romaisa has not received formal musical training. Encouraged by her sister, she has pursued singing and took the confidence she gained to perform on the main stage of Pakistan Idol. She has already demonstrated considerable talent.
She gained widespread popularity by singing the folk song ‘Laung Gavacha’. Her songs quickly went viral on social media, which helped her gain recognition across the country.
Romaisa, who graduated in business from the University of London, described her rise to fame as dramatic. She first realised her song had gone viral while dining out with friends. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing the guitar and practising her music.
Her mother stated that although they come from a conservative Pashtun family, they will never hinder their daughter’s dreams. She said, “I will not let anything obstruct her path. I want her to grow independently and become established.”
Talking about the behind-the-scenes environment, Romaisa mentioned that there is a cooperative and friendly spirit among the contestants. She is fully prepared for the upcoming rounds, and her friends help manage voting responsibilities. Besides singing, she remains active on social media and enjoys making videos with her friends.
