Pakistani security forces have conducted a series of large-scale, intelligence-driven operations across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan provinces, resulting in the deaths of 34 members of militant groups labelled as “Indian proxy forces,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan military.
In a statement released on Wednesday, 25 February, ISPR confirmed the operation’s outcomes, reported by Geo News. The offensives targeted militant outfits that have been launching repeated attacks on Pakistan’s security forces over an extended period, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups. Pakistan has long accused India of supporting such groups, referring to them under the designations Fitna al-Khawariz and Fitna al-Hindustan.
ISPR stated that operations against these militant organisations are ongoing, with security forces striking based on actionable intelligence to neutralise threats effectively. The operations over 24–25 February included multiple simultaneous engagements in KP and Balochistan.
According to the military’s statement:
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four separate clashes resulted in the deaths of 26 Fitna al-Khawariz militants.
In Balochistan’s Sambaza area, 8 Fitna al-Hindustan militants were killed in a coordinated raid.
Further, ISPR reported that movement of a group of “Khariji” militants attempting to infiltrate via the Pakistan–Afghanistan border was detected. Pakistani forces carried out a precise operation, killing one identified Indian proxy militant, later confirmed as an Afghan national.
Additional operations based on intelligence included:
| Date | Location | Militant Group | Casualties | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 24 Feb | Lakki Marwat, KP | Khariji | 3 killed | Intelligence-based strike (IBO) |
| 24 Feb | North Waziristan, Mir Ali | Khariji | 12 killed | Targeted elimination |
| 24 Feb | Bannu, Narmi Khel, KP | Khariji | 10 killed | Two separate clashes |
| 25 Feb | Balochistan, Sambaza | Fitna al-Hindustan | 8 killed | Firefight; arms recovered |
| 24 Feb | KP, four locations | Fitna al-Khawariz | 26 killed | Multiple engagements |
ISPR confirmed that in addition to eliminating militants, a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was seized during these operations, dealing a severe blow to the operational capabilities of the targeted groups.
The Pakistani military emphasised that these operations are part of an ongoing effort to eradicate militant networks destabilising the region and threatening national security. Security forces continue to monitor and act against cross-border militant movements, particularly along the Pakistan–Afghanistan frontier, to prevent infiltration and pre-empt attacks.
