Journalist Manjurul Alam Panna has raised sharp criticism of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, claiming that he convenes meetings with political parties only during times of crisis or personal inconvenience, often deflecting responsibilities onto others.
In a recent video message on his YouTube channel, Panna accused Dr Yunus of showing little regard for political parties throughout the year, only engaging with them when he is in trouble.
“Whenever a crisis arises, we find Dr Yunus hastily sitting down with political parties,” Panna stated.
“He avoids personal accountability and instead shifts the burden to others when it’s convenient.”
| Incident/Event | Dr Yunus’s Response |
| Milestone School Plane Crash | Immediately held meetings with political parties as student protests intensified over the undisclosed death toll. |
| August 15 Holiday Cancellation | Convened discussions with parties following the public backlash. |
| Army Chief’s Corridor Remarks | Organised political meetings in response to controversial statements and related issues. |
| Resignation Crisis | Chose the same tactic—political consultation under pressure. |
Panna expressed concern over the selective nature of these engagements.
“Who were invited this time? BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan, and National Citizen Party (NCP),” he said.
“Amidst a national atmosphere of mourning, we saw smiling pictures of the chief adviser from these meetings being circulated online.”
He questioned the exclusion of several established political organisations:
“Why only four parties? Why exclude registered and significant political bodies like CPB, BASAD, Nagorik Oikya, Gono Songhoti, and AB Party?
How can one expect a free, fair and impartial election under someone whose partiality is so obvious?”
Panna concluded by suggesting that such actions reflect deep political bias and undermine the credibility of the caretaker administration’s ability to conduct neutral elections.
