Party Registration and Election Symbol to Remain Under GM Quader’s Leadership

Advocate Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Presidium Member of the Jatiya Party, has declared that the party’s registration and election symbol will remain under the leadership of GM Quader.

He made this statement on Sunday, 28 September, after holding a meeting with the Election Commission (EC).

According to Advocate Bhuiyan, a group of recently expelled individuals attempted to hold an illegal council under the name of the Jatiya Party and subsequently claimed ownership of the party’s registration and election symbol.

In response, the Jatiya Party submitted a written petition to both the Chief Election Commissioner and the EC Secretary. The petition clarified that the said council was unauthorised, as it was not approved either by the Party Chairman or the Presidium.

Advocate Bhuiyan further revealed that the Election Commission assured the Jatiya Party that the matter is being thoroughly reviewed. A final decision is expected within the coming week, though EC officials indicated that an announcement could be made within a few days.

He strongly rejected the claims surrounding what was presented as the Jatiya Party’s 10th Council, stating: “Our 10th conference has not yet taken place. What has been portrayed as the 10th council is completely illegal. Therefore, we firmly believe that the registration and the election symbol, as they currently stand under GM Quader, will remain unchanged. The claims made by others are in no way acceptable.”
