This marks the second time the Philippines will feature on football’s biggest stage for women, following their debut in 2023.

Other Asian nations, including Australia, China, Japan, and South Korea, had already secured World Cup berths by reaching the semi-finals of the Asian Cup. Another play-off later the same day between North Korea and Taiwan will determine one more place.

Despite the loss, Uzbekistan still has a pathway to the tournament via intercontinental play-offs, where two additional teams will earn qualification.
