Pickup Set Ablaze in Ashulia

In the Bogabari Bus Stand area of Ashulia, Savar, a pickup carrying raw materials was set on fire by miscreants in the early hours. The incident occurred at around 4:30 am on Tuesday (18 November).

Upon receiving the news, a unit of EPZ Fire Service arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, brought the fire under control. The cabin of the pickup and some of the cargo suffered partial damage. No casualties were reported.

The affected pickup owner stated that the vehicle had been parked beside the Bypail–Abdullahpur highway overnight to unload goods. He alleged that a few individuals suddenly appeared, set the vehicle on fire, and fled. Security personnel and locals tried to extinguish the fire, averting more serious damage.

Although the incident caused panic in the area initially, the situation is now reported to be normal.

During the ongoing ‘shutdown’, roads are largely clear. Law and order remain under control. Police have established checkpoints at key points in Dhaka–Aricha and Bypail areas to maintain strict vigilance.

Dhaka District Police Superintendent Md. Anisuzzaman said, “Any attempt at sabotage or creating disorder will be dealt with strictly. All measures are in place to ensure public safety.”

The sudden fire has caused concern among local businesspeople and transport workers, though authorities have stated that the situation is currently calm.
