Prime Minister Tarek Rahman Continues Secretariat Work

Prime Minister Tarek Rahman has resumed office at the Secretariat for the second consecutive day.

On Thursday, 19 February, he arrived at the Prime Minister’s office in the Cabinet Secretariat shortly after 9:00 a.m. This temporary arrangement is in place as the renovation work on both the Prime Minister’s Office and the Jamuna building remains incomplete. The new Prime Minister is expected to continue operating from the Secretariat until the restoration work is finalised.

During the day, Prime Minister Rahman is scheduled to chair a series of inter-ministerial meetings addressing key national initiatives. The first session, at 11:30 a.m., will focus on the rollout plan for the Family Card distribution programme, aimed at streamlining social welfare benefits across the country. Later in the afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., he will lead a high-level meeting on environmental and water management projects, including a five-year plan to plant 25 crore trees and the restoration of rivers, canals, and reservoirs.

Officials indicate that these meetings are part of the Prime Minister’s immediate priorities, reflecting his commitment to social development, environmental sustainability, and efficient administrative coordination. Sources also note that the Secretariat provides a temporary yet fully functional venue to facilitate government operations during the ongoing renovations.
