Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor has once again become the centre of attention following the death of her husband, Sanjay Kapoor. A legal dispute has emerged over Sanjay’s substantial estate, involving his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapoor, and Karishma’s two children. Amidst this turmoil, Sanjay’s late sister, Mandira Kapoor, has spoken out about the family conflict.
In an interview with Indian media, Mandira revealed that the family had been strongly opposed to Sanjay’s third marriage, arguing that Karishma did not deserve such humiliation. She said:
“Karishma did not deserve this dishonour. She tried very hard to make that marriage work.”
Mandira accused Priya of creating discord at a particularly sensitive time. She explained that while Sanjay and Karishma’s relationship was going well and their second child, Kiaan, had just been born, Priya’s entrance into the family was enough to destabilise it.
“Another woman should not have entered the household at a time when a newborn had just arrived. Creating unrest in such a setting is a mark of poor taste, which Priya has certainly demonstrated,” Mandira added.
Mandira also revealed that their late father had never accepted Sanjay’s relationship with Priya. He had reportedly told Sanjay:
“Never marry Priya. I do not want to see her face, nor do I want any children from her.”
Due to their father’s objections, Mandira and another sister did not attend Sanjay and Priya’s wedding in 2017. She also expressed regret for not being able to support Karishma during this difficult period.
