Political analyst and senior journalist Masud Kamal has revealed alarming details regarding alleged corruption in a government appointment, stating: “In the 4 October issue of Dainik Manab Zamin, the report titled ‘Professor Yunus Broke His Own Record’ included a sensational revelation that has shaken the foundation of administrative ethics in the country.”
According to the report:
Masud Kamal disclosed these details on his YouTube channel on Sunday, 5 October.
Masud Kamal further noted that: “The report hinted that a portion of this BDT 80 crore might be connected to the State Guesthouse Jamuna, where Professor Yunus currently resides.”
Although the report did not make a direct allegation, the implication has raised many questions. Why and how is the guesthouse associated with this discussion of corruption?
“This incident is not just a part of a report but reflects a deep crisis in national policy and ethics. Professor Yunus had previously reassured the public by speaking against corruption, but the report presents an image that is the exact opposite.”
The report outlined:
| Detail | Information |
| Government Post | Top-level position in a government organisation |
| Proposed Transaction | BDT 80 crore |
| Allocation | 50% to a special location; 50% to a third party |
| Duties of Appointee | No work required; only consent to commercial dealings |
| Outcome | The senior administrative officer ultimately rejected the proposal after consideration |
Masud Kamal explained: “Part of the BDT 80 crore was intended for a special place, with the State Guesthouse Jamuna associated. The question arises—if the residence of Professor Yunus is mentioned in this context, is there any connection? While the report does not state anything directly, it implies that even Professor Yunus’s residence is now being referenced in discussions of corruption.”
Masud Kamal emphasised the need for public accountability, saying: “Those entrusted with responsibility are now auctioning off the rights of the people. The benefits of public uprising should have been enjoyed by ordinary citizens, but now they are confined to a few individuals.”
He further urged law enforcement: “I request that after the government’s tenure ends, those who held office should be barred from leaving the country before investigations into their activities. Justice should be served according to due process: the guilty must be punished, the innocent released, and if necessary, passports should be confiscated to prevent escape.”
Masud Kamal added: “Why does suspicion arise about those who assumed major responsibilities after the movement? If those entrusted with high responsibilities act without any doubts, only then can we be assured. Currently, their actions are beyond even suspicion, which is a matter of deep concern for the public.”
