The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the tentative date for the written examination of the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadre. According to a notice released on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, the written exam is scheduled to take place on 9 April 2026.
The announcement follows the publication of the preliminary (preli) examination results for the 50th BCS, which were released on the same day. PSC has allocated a two-month preparation window for candidates to sit for the written examination, as part of its ongoing effort to complete the BCS recruitment cycle within a single calendar year.
A total of 12,385 candidates successfully passed the preliminary stage of the 50th BCS. The preliminary examination, held on 30 January 2026, was conducted simultaneously across eight divisional cities—Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh—covering 190 examination centres nationwide.
The scale of the examination highlights the competitive nature of BCS recruitment. A total of 290,951 candidates had applied for this edition, reflecting both the prestige and the high demand for civil service positions in Bangladesh.
The PSC has emphasised that candidates must focus on strategic preparation, time management, and subject-specific expertise to succeed in the upcoming written examination. Experts anticipate a particularly challenging contest, as only those who excel in both knowledge and exam technique are likely to advance to the next stage.
The following table summarises the key statistics of the 50th BCS preliminary examination:
| Category | Details |

| Total applicants | 290,951 |

PSC officials have also highlighted that the forthcoming written examination will test not only candidates’ academic knowledge but also their analytical and decision-making skills. For many, this stage represents the most crucial hurdle in their journey to becoming civil servants.
Candidates and observers alike are closely monitoring developments, preparing strategies, and reviewing past trends in BCS examinations. With the prelims now concluded, the attention of thousands has shifted firmly to April, as the nation awaits the next chapter in one of its most prestigious recruitment processes.
