Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, convener of the Bangladesh Ganotantrik Chhatra Sangbad (Bagchas) Rangpur Metropolitan Committee, has been suspended from his organisational position following allegations that he entered a classroom at Harati High School in Rangpur and severely beat around fifty students with a cane.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, 24 September at 9:30 pm through a notice issued on Bagchas’ verified Facebook page by central convener Abu Bakar Majumdar and member secretary Zahid Ahsan.
The notice stated that Imtiaz Ahmed Imti was suspended for violating organisational discipline and engaging in activities contrary to the ideals and interests of the organisation.
A three-member investigation committee has been formed to examine the allegations. The committee members are:
Name | Position |
Abu Touhid Md. Siam | Senior Joint Convener |
Naeem Abedin | Senior Organiser |
Mohammad Arshad Hossain | Member |
The committee has been instructed to submit a comprehensive and impartial report within 72 hours.
The alleged incident occurred on 4 September when Imtiaz Ahmed, acting as both the management committee convener and Bagchas leader, reportedly beat underperforming students with a cane at Harati High School.
Following media reports on Tuesday and Wednesday, the management committee convener and Bagchas leader Imtiaz Ahmed’s position was suspended.
This action reflects Bagchas’ effort to maintain organisational discipline and ensure accountability for leadership conduct within educational institutions.
