Bangladesh will face India today (Wednesday) in a crucial Super Four match of the Asia Cup, a game that could significantly boost their chances of reaching the final. However, concerns have arisen over the availability of Bangladesh captain Liton Das due to a recent injury. Team management has, however, confirmed that his injury is not serious.

Liton sustained the injury during batting practice last Monday, hurting his rib area. He did not continue batting after the incident. While the team's management reassured that the injury was minor, there remained uncertainty over his participation against India.

On match day, Liton was reported to be in normal condition, with a high probability of playing. However, team officials refused to confirm whether he would be included in the playing XI.

Bangladesh players skipped practice yesterday to recover from the physical demands of back-to-back matches. Liton was seen receiving treatment on the field from team physiotherapist Baizidul Islam and chief medical officer Debashish Chowdhury, before observing the session from the bench.

Team captain Liton is expected to play a key role in the upcoming matches against India and Pakistan, both of which are vital for Bangladesh's path to the final.

Pakistan212+0.226
Bangladesh212+0.121

Bangladesh began the Super Four stage after defeating Sri Lanka. Despite earning 2 points from their first win, Pakistan currently sits above Bangladesh on the points table due to a superior net run rate (+0.226 vs +0.121). India, having beaten Pakistan, leads the table with 4 points and a net run rate of +0.689.

To keep their final hopes alive, Bangladesh must win at least one of the next two matches. A victory in both would secure their place in the final without relying on net run rate calculations.

The upcoming matches are:

Team management and coach Phil Simmons will be eager to have Liton available for these decisive encounters, as his leadership and batting are pivotal for Bangladesh’s Asia Cup campaign.
