The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the upcoming season will be organised by IMG, as previously reported. Following a board meeting yesterday, Director Iftikhar Rahman Mithu confirmed that IMG has been entrusted with the league for a three-year term, though the official contract has yet to be signed.

Mithu stated, "IMG has been given the responsibility of organising the BPL for three years. We have had the first Kick-off meeting, and the contract will be signed soon. Officially, they have been given the responsibility, but the contract is still under discussion."

The BCB is targeting either December of this year or January of next year to hold the BPL. Mithu added: "We are aiming for December-January. There is a lot of work to be done, which will fall under the next board's responsibility. Preparations have already begun, and the next board will take the final decisions. Even though we have set the target time, we are moving forward with other preparatory work."

Regarding outstanding payments from BPL teams, Mithu revealed: "Another issue is that our total outstanding amounts to nearly BDT 40 crore. You know we wanted to provide a list of defaulting BPL teams. Negotiations with these teams have already started and are ongoing."
