Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has claimed that an interview published by the Kolkata-based online media outlet ‘Ei Samay’ is entirely fake and generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
On Tuesday, 23 September, Fakhrul made this statement during a phone conversation from the United States with UNB.
He said, “The interview is completely fabricated! They (Ei Samay) have used artificial intelligence to create this false and misleading report.”
Mirza Fakhrul had travelled to the United States on Monday to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) alongside the BNP’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus.
From the United States, Fakhrul responded to the media, asserting: “The report published in Kolkata’s Ei Samay is entirely imaginary.”
He further added that the so-called comments attributed to him in the report are illogical and could not have been made by any political leader. Fakhrul emphasised:“This is deliberate. I have not given any interview to Ei Samay, nor have I spoken to any Kolkata-based media outlet.”
It is worth noting that on Monday, shortly after Fakhrul’s arrival in the United States, Awami League supporters reportedly targeted Akhtar Hossain at JFK Airport, throwing eggs and attacking him.
