The administration of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) has announced that preparations will be made to hold the HSTU Central Students’ Union (HAKSU) election by 6 November. The directive was issued through a notice released at midnight on Monday, 22 September.

Earlier that day, from the afternoon of 22 September, students began a sit-in in front of the administrative building, demanding the immediate announcement of a roadmap for the long-awaited HAKSU election.

During the protest, students held several rounds of discussions with the administration. Initially, the university authorities proposed to announce the roadmap after a formal meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 24 September. However, the students rejected this offer, insisting that a tentative roadmap must be declared the same day and published as an official notice.

Finally, late on Monday night, the administration conceded to student demands and issued the official announcement.

The notice, signed by Registrar Professor Dr Abu Hasan, stated: “In accordance with the Constitution concerning the Students’ Union of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, and subject to the Chancellor’s approval, the University authorities will take all necessary measures to organise the HAKSU election by 6 November.”
