Quarter-final Line-up Confirmed: Who Faces Whom in the Last Eight

The Africa Cup of Nations has reached a decisive and exhilarating stage, as the quarter-final line-up has now been officially confirmed. The final two teams to book their places in the last eight are the reigning champions Ivory Coast and tournament heavyweights Algeria, completing a fiercely competitive knockout bracket that promises drama, quality, and continental rivalry.

In Marrakech, Ivory Coast produced a commanding performance to dismantle West African neighbours Burkina Faso by three goals to nil. The Elephants were in complete control from the opening whistle, combining tactical discipline with attacking flair. Manchester United winger Amad Diallo was at the heart of their success, scoring one goal and creating another with his pace, movement, and intelligent link-up play. His contribution set the tempo for the match and underlined Ivory Coast’s attacking depth.

The remaining goals were netted by Yann Diomandé and Bazoumana Touré, as Burkina Faso struggled to contain the champions’ relentless pressure. Ivory Coast’s defensive solidity was equally impressive, ensuring a clean sheet and a confident passage into the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Algeria secured their place in far more dramatic fashion, edging past DR Congo in a tense encounter in Rabat. After 90 minutes of goalless football and much of extra time unfolding in similar fashion, the contest appeared destined for penalties. However, substitute Adil Bulbina had other ideas.

Introduced late into the match, the 22-year-old midfielder delivered a moment of brilliance in the 119th minute, bursting down the left flank before unleashing a powerful strike from inside the penalty area. The goal proved decisive, sealing a 1–0 victory and sparking emotional celebrations among Algerian players and supporters alike.

Remarkably, this was only Bulbina’s sixth international appearance. He had featured as a substitute in two matches during the tournament, accumulating just 19 minutes of playing time prior to this encounter. Overcome with emotion, he was seen in tears at full-time, fully aware of the magnitude of his contribution.

Speaking after the match, Bulbina said:
“Every Algerian dreams of playing for the national team and performing well. I was given my chance and I took it, but the most important thing is that we won and progressed to the next round.”

With these results, the quarter-final schedule is now complete and fans can look forward to a thrilling set of fixtures.
