RAB-7 Arrests Fleeing Suspect in Chittagong Rape Case

Chittagong authorities have successfully apprehended Md. Nur Hasan, 28, the prime suspect in a high-profile rape case that has drawn significant public attention. Hasan had reportedly been in hiding for an extended period before his capture.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday, 4 January 2026, by ARM Mozzaffar Hossain, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7, the Rapid Action Battalion unit responsible for the operation.

According to RAB sources, Hasan was taken into custody the previous evening, Saturday, 3 January, from the Sagarika BSCIC Industrial Area under Pahartali Police Station. Investigators noted that the suspect had attempted to evade the law by frequently changing locations, but coordinated intelligence and persistent surveillance ultimately led to his capture.

Md. Nur Hasan is a resident of Master Lane under Khulshi Police Station and the son of Md. Manik. Following his arrest, he was formally handed over to the Akbar Shah Police Station, where he is facing charges in a case involving rape and pornography-related offences.

RAB-7 emphasised that this arrest reflects the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies in Chittagong to combat crimes against women and children. ARM Mozzaffar Hossain stated, “Ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law remain our utmost priority.
