The twelfth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) concluded on Friday with a thrilling finale as Rajshahi Warriors defeated Chittagong Royals to claim the championship for the second time in the team’s history. The victory marked a historic moment for Rajshahi, consolidating their position as one of the league’s most formidable sides.
Throughout the tournament, Chittagong’s Shariful Islam showcased outstanding bowling performances, earning him the Player of the Tournament award. His remarkable achievements not only helped his team but also set new records in BPL history. Meanwhile, individual honours were distributed among several other standout players.
The championship earned Rajshahi Warriors a prize of BDT 2.75 crore, while the runners-up Chittagong Royals received BDT 1.75 crore. In the final, Rajshahi’s Tanzeed Hasan Tamim became only the third batsman in BPL history to score a century in a final, earning the Man of the Match award along with a BDT 5 lakh prize.
Shariful Islam, breaking Taskin Ahmed’s previous record, took a tournament-high 26 wickets, a feat that earned him the Highest Wicket-Taker award worth BDT 5 lakh. Additionally, he was named the Player of the Tournament, bringing his total individual earnings to BDT 15 lakh.
Fielding also proved crucial in determining standout performers. Liton Kumar Das, captain of Rangpur Riders, impressed throughout the tournament with ten spectacular catches and consistently sharp fielding, earning him the Best Fielder award and a prize of BDT 3 lakh. Rising star Ripon Mondal also made a strong impression on the field and was recognised as the Emerging Player of the Tournament, receiving BDT 3 lakh.
