RAJUK Identifies 300 Risky Buildings in the Capital

Following several recent earthquakes, approximately 300 small and large buildings in the capital have been identified as risky, according to RAJUK Chairman Riazul Islam. He shared this information during an event in the city on Monday (24 November).

The RAJUK chairman stated that handling post-earthquake situations requires coordinated efforts and urged the government to work together with all stakeholders.

Riazul Islam also explained that building approvals are issued according to proper regulations and RAJUK does not carry out any work in exchange for money. He added that RAJUK does not create plans for anyone; property owners submit plans prepared by engineers or architects under the condition that RAJUK regulations are followed. If these rules are violated, fines or penalties should be applied to the property owners, not RAJUK.

He further noted that as the City Corporation, RAJUK, and the Fire Service operate separately, all operations in the city remain in a state of disorder.
