Afghanistan’s captain, Rashid Khan, has etched his name into cricketing history by becoming the first bowler to reach 700 wickets in Twenty20 cricket, setting an unprecedented global benchmark. The historic achievement came during a T20 World Cup clash against the United Arab Emirates in Delhi.

Before the match, Rashid’s tally stood at 699 wickets. The landmark wicket was claimed in the 16th over of the UAE innings, when he dismissed Mohammad Arfan. After going wicketless for the first 3.2 overs, Rashid eventually found his breakthrough, conceding just 17 runs from 20 balls. Arfan’s attempt at a reverse sweep backfired as he missed the shot, resulting in his stumps being shattered—a moment that secured Rashid’s historic 700th wicket.
