Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’ Earns BDT 147 Crore in Just Five Days

South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna is now one of the most talked-about names in Bollywood. Known for delivering back-to-back hits, she has become a favorite among the new generation of moviegoers. Continuing this streak, she stars in the horror-comedy Thamma, which released in theaters on October 21 during the festive season of Diwali. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpatdar and features Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana opposite her.

Even before its release, the film had generated significant buzz. The song Poison Baby marked the return of Malaika Arora to the screen after several years, and the dance sequence featuring Rashmika and Malaika has captivated audiences. Additionally, the romantic number Tum Mere Na Huye, sung by Ayushmann and Rashmika, has touched fans’ hearts.

Among the 31 Hindi films released this year, Thamma ranks fourth in first-day collections. Leading the charts are Chhapa (BDT 40.7 crore), War 2 (BDT 39.2 crore), and Sikandar (BDT 35 crore).

According to Sacnilk data, the film earned BDT 131.4 crore in India within five days. Overseas collections stand at BDT 15.8 crore, bringing the worldwide total to approximately BDT 147 crore.

Thamma is the latest addition to Madoc Films’ horror-comedy universe. Produced with a budget of BDT 194 crore, the film has a U/A 16+ rating and a runtime of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 59 seconds.

Speaking about the story, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “This film is inspired by Indian mythology and folklore. We often look to Western stories, but our own culture has countless legends. This is my first true fantasy project, where I play the role of ‘Betal’—a spirit from Indian folklore. The film blends comedy, romance, and action rather than focusing purely on horror.”

Rashmika Mandanna told Variety, “When I heard the story, I knew it would be something different. I was excited from the beginning to be part of this universe. The characters are deeply rooted in Indian culture.”

Alongside Ayushmann and Rashmika, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Geeta Agarwal Sharma, and Faisal Malik. Guest appearances include Malaika Arora, Nora Fatehi, Varun Dhawan, Satyaraj, and director Amar Kaushik.

Since its release, Thamma has won over audiences with its unique blend of horror-comedy, romance, and folklore-inspired storytelling. Its BDT 147 crore earnings in just five days are a testament to its success.
