Tomorrow, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will host a commemorative event marking the birth anniversary of Fareeda Parveen, an immortal luminary of Lalon music. Revered for her unparalleled dedication, Parveen devoted every moment of her life to preserving and promoting Lalon songs, earning recognition both domestically and internationally.
Fareeda Parveen founded the “Achin Pakhi Music Academy” to ensure the continuity of her musical tradition. The academy remains a vital institution where young musicians immerse themselves in the nuances of Lalon’s compositions. In a previous interview, Parveen remarked,
“Just as my guru lives on through his disciples, I hope my musical spirit will be eternally remembered through the students of Achin Pakhi Academy.”
The birth anniversary celebration will take place in the Chitrashala Auditorium of the Shilpakala Academy, commencing at 4:00 pm. The programme will include discussions on Parveen’s life, her artistic vision, and her musical achievements, alongside performances by her disciples and contemporary musicians.

Born on 31 December 1954 in Natore, Nawganj district, Fareeda Parveen began her musical education under the guidance of Kamal Chakraborty of Magura at the tender age of five. By fourteen, she had embarked on a professional musical career. Though accomplished in Nazrulgeeti, patriotic songs, and folk music, her mastery of Lalon’s repertoire established her as one of Bangladesh’s foremost artists.
