The Government of Bangladesh has announced a reward scheme for the recovery of looted weapons belonging to law enforcement agencies. The maximum reward under this scheme has been set at Tk 5 lakh.
The announcement was made on Monday (25 August) by Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, following a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat.
The reward will vary according to the type of weapon recovered:

| Short Gun / Pistol | 50,000 |
| China Rifle / Sub-Machine Gun (SMG) | 100,000 |
| Light Machine Gun (LMG) | 500,000 (maximum) |
| Ammunition (per round) | 500 |

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasised that this step demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to restoring order and eliminating risks posed by the circulation of stolen arms.
