The legendary “Rihanna reign” shows no signs of faltering. As the global icon marks the tenth anniversary of her seminal studio album, ANTI, she has once again rewritten the history books of the music industry. On 28 January, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced a fresh wave of certifications for the Bajan superstar, spearheaded by a milestone eighth Diamond certification.
The accolade was awarded to the doo-wop-inspired ballad “Love on the Brain,” which originally peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017. With this achievement, Rihanna extends her lead as the female artist with the most Diamond-certified singles in RIAA history—a testament to her enduring cultural impact despite a decade-long hiatus from full-length studio releases.
The 10th-anniversary celebrations saw nine tracks from the ANTI era receiving updated certifications. While “Love on the Brain” took the top honour, other standout tracks continued their upward trajectory. “Needed Me” and the Drake-assisted “Work” reached 12x and 11x Platinum status, respectively.
Beyond individual tracks, the album itself continues to defy gravity on the charts. ANTI currently holds the record for the longest-charting album by a Black female artist on the Billboard 200, boasting an incredible tenure of over 508 weeks.
The following table details Rihanna’s elite “Diamond Club”—singles that have moved at least 10 million equivalent units in the United States alone:
| Single Title | Featured/Collaborating Artist | Certification Status |
|---|---|---|
| Love on the Brain | Solo | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| Umbrella | Jay-Z | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| Diamonds | Solo | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| Stay | Mikky Ekko | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| We Found Love | Calvin Harris | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| Love the Way You Lie | Eminem | Diamond (10x Platinum) |
| Needed Me | Solo | 12x Platinum |
| Work | Drake | 11x Platinum |
These commercial triumphs coincide with a celebratory week for Rihanna’s household. Her partner, A$AP Rocky, recently secured his first Billboard 200 number-one album in over a decade with his latest project, Don’t Be Dumb. Rihanna took to social media to champion the achievement, enthusiastically posting: “Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah!”
While the “Rihanna Navy” remains desperate for a ninth album, the mogul has hardly been idle. Since ANTI, she has headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show, earned Oscar and Grammy nominations for the Black Panther theme “Lift Me Up,” and expanded her family, recently welcoming her third child—and first daughter—with Rocky. As the ANTI era enters its second decade, its status as a modern classic is firmly undisputed.
