Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ Reaches 500 Weeks on Billboard 200, Setting a Historic Benchmark

Rihanna has once again demonstrated her enduring global influence as her 2016 album Anti officially completes 500 weeks on the Billboard 200. This accomplishment marks the first time that an album by a Black female artist has reached such longevity, placing Anti within an elite group of records that have sustained cultural and commercial impact over many years.

Celebrating the achievement on X (formerly Twitter), Rihanna wrote, “God Ain’t Forget Bout Me!”. Despite not releasing a full-length project for nearly a decade, the 37-year-old star continues to maintain extraordinary streaming dominance. In 2025, she surpassed 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, reaffirming her position among the most-streamed artists worldwide. Tracks such as Breakin’ Dishes and Where Have You Been enjoyed renewed popularity throughout the year, attracting a new generation of listeners.

Anti remains the most critically acclaimed and culturally defining project of her career. Upon release, it debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries and produced international hits, most notably Work. Over time, its influence has grown significantly, earning a spot on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Music of the Sun. To commemorate the occasion, Rihanna updated her social media banners with the titles of all her albums, prompting strong speculation about her next musical chapter. She also introduced a new merch collection inspired by her early era, enabling fans to revisit her artistic origins.

Released in 2005, Music of the Sun introduced Rihanna’s Caribbean-rooted sound to the world. Songs such as Pon de Replay and If It’s Lovin’ That You Want rapidly propelled her into the global spotlight. The album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and paved the way for a career that would ultimately include nine Grammy Awards, fourteen Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, and a legacy built on reinvention.

The recent milestone has renewed discussions surrounding her long-awaited ninth studio album, known widely as R9. At the 2025 Met Gala, Rihanna confirmed her third pregnancy but reassured fans that work on the album continues uninterrupted. In an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR earlier this year, she revealed that the project has been in development for eight years and will introduce a bold shift in her sound, stating, “It’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible. I feel like I’ve finally cracked it.”

For now, Anti continues to chart, fans continue to speculate, and Rihanna continues to prove that even in periods of silence, her cultural footprint only grows larger.
