Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL), choosing to skip the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). This decision comes as part of his career development strategy, allowing him to focus entirely on the Australian T20 tournament.
Rishad was drafted by the Hobart Hurricanes in the previous Big Bash season. However, he was unable to participate due to overlapping commitments with the national team’s West Indies tour and the BPL. As a result, the young spinner missed his first opportunity to play in the Big Bash.
For the upcoming BBL season, the Hurricanes are once again placing their trust in Rishad. The franchise confirmed his selection following recommendations from Ricky Ponting, the team’s Head of Strategy.
There was initial uncertainty about whether Rishad could play the full BBL season, as the league’s schedule coincides with the BPL in Bangladesh. With the NOC now approved, the spinner will be free to participate fully.
Key Dates
Rishad’s participation in the BBL represents a significant opportunity to gain international T20 experience, contributing both to his development as a cricketer and to the performance of the Hobart Hurricanes.
