In a stark and unusually critical tone, BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi blamed BNP’s own activists for disrupting the treatment of Khaleda Zia. He claimed the daily flood of visitors to the hospital has become a major barrier to ensuring proper medical care for the former prime minister, who is currently in a vulnerable and critical condition.
Rizvi questioned why so many persons were attempting to access CCU premises despite strict medical restrictions. He emphasized that if common citizens are not allowed near critical care units, party activists should not assume privilege. He argued that this continued defiance of medical protocol is irresponsible and dangerous, directly undermining Khaleda Zia’s chances of recovery.
He also stressed that the BNP Chairperson’s treatment requires uninterrupted attention from doctors. Yet, the hospital environment is being repeatedly destabilized as activists gather in large groups, blocking pathways and stretching security resources. According to him, this is not love or loyalty—it is reckless conduct with potentially severe consequences.
Although the BNP leadership and Khaleda Zia’s family had issued explicit instructions to prevent gatherings, the lack of compliance has become a public embarrassment for the party. Critics contend that this repeated defiance exposes BNP’s internal disunity and absence of command.
Rizvi’s comments have sparked fresh debate over whether the party has failed to protect its chairperson during her medical crisis. Some argue that if the situation was truly sensitive, BNP should have enforced stricter control from the start instead of reacting only after the disorder had escalated.
