A female student has filed a case against Associate Professor Dulal Ali Molla of the Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension at Rajshahi University (RU), accusing him of attempting to rape her. The complaint was lodged at Chandrima Police Station on 4 January, but the details emerged publicly on the night of Monday, 12 January.
According to the police report, the victim and the accused have been acquainted since 2021, and their relationship reportedly developed into a romantic one. At one point, discussions of marriage were initiated between the families.
On 27 December, between approximately 8:00 and 9:00 pm, Professor Dulal allegedly lured the woman to his rented residence in Padma Residential Area, citing his mother’s illness. The victim alleges that once inside, and with no one else present, he repeatedly attempted to assault her sexually.
The following day, 28 December, the professor reportedly fled the residence but returned later with three accomplices and another woman posed as his ‘wife.’ The complaint states that the victim was subjected to both physical and psychological abuse. During the ordeal, she reportedly fell ill, after which the perpetrators left her alone, cutting off gas and water supplies. Her family later rescued her.
