Barrister Rumin Farhana, BNP’s Central Secretary for International Affairs, has reportedly sent representatives to check on Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organiser (South Region) of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). She also sent gifts along with the visit.
The matter was mentioned by Hasnat Abdullah during his address as the chief guest at a courtyard meeting held on Saturday, 30 August, at the Chhatrapur School Ground in Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar. It is notable that Barrister Rumin Farhana’s ancestral home is located in Islampur village, Bijoynagar Upazila.
Hasnat Abdullah commented: “There has been a previous disagreement between us and Rumin Farhana. She has been active in politics for a long time. When she heard that we were coming to her area, she sent her people to check if we were facing any problems. She also sent gifts for us. This is a positive message for politics, which we should certainly welcome.”
He further added: “In post-1971 Bangladesh, we do not want to return to violence. Differences of opinion will exist, and they are the strength of democracy. On the other hand, violence is the enemy of democracy. If anyone speaks aggressively against us, we will respond democratically. If someone gives us a positive message, we must accept it.”
The courtyard meeting also featured speeches from several NCP leaders, including:
| Name | Position |
| S. M. Saif Mostafiz | Joint Secretary, NCP |
| Dr. Mahuda Mita | Joint Secretary, NCP |
| Md. Ataullah | Joint Chief Organiser, NCP |
| Aminul Haq Chowdhury | Chief Coordinator, Bijoynagar Upazila Committee, NCP |
The interaction between Rumin Farhana and Hasnat Abdullah was presented as a symbol of goodwill and positive political dialogue, reinforcing the importance of democratic engagement over confrontation in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
