Russian Attacks on Western Ukraine Kill One, Injure Several

Russian attacks on western Ukraine have killed one person and injured multiple others, Ukrainian officials reported on Thursday, as diplomatic efforts to end the three-year conflict continue.

Lviv Region:

Incident Casualties Damage Details
UAV and cruise missile strike 1 killed, 2 wounded Dozens of residential buildings damaged

Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, confirmed the casualties on Telegram, stating: “One person was killed and two were wounded as a result of the combined UAV and cruise missile strike in Lviv. Dozens of residential buildings were damaged.”

Mukachevo (near Hungary and Slovakia):

  • 12 people wounded by Russian fire
  • 5 patients receiving treatment locally
  • 1 transferred to the regional hospital

Reported by the Mukachevo City Council on Facebook, highlighting the ongoing impact on civilian areas.

Lutsk:

  • Mayor Igor Polishchuk confirmed a Russian attack using UAVs and missiles
  • No injuries or fatalities reported

The Russian Defence Ministry claimed it had destroyed 49 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across multiple regions, though it did not provide information on casualties or damage.

The attacks come amid a flurry of US-led diplomacy aimed at ending the conflict:

  • US President Donald Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska
  • He subsequently hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in Washington for separate talks
  • Moscow and Kyiv continue aerial strikes despite international calls for a ceasefire

The ongoing violence in western Ukraine underscores the fragility of peace negotiations and the continued threat to civilian populations.
