A high-level delegation from the state-owned Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC) met with Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and State Minister Md Zonaed Abdur Rahim Saki on 21 February 2026, extending floral greetings and offering their congratulations on the new government.
The delegation was led by Mohammad Zainul Bari, Chairman of SBC’s Board of Directors and former government secretary, alongside Md Harun-or-Rashid, Managing Director of SBC and Additional Secretary. The meeting took place at the Finance and Planning Minister’s office in the capital. Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, also attended, highlighting the government’s keen interest in fostering public-private collaboration in the financial sector.
During the discussion, SBC officials emphasised their commitment to strengthening the national insurance industry. They outlined plans to enhance transparency, improve governance, and promote sustainable growth in the sector to support overall economic stability. The officials further expressed their intention to work closely with the government in implementing initiatives aligned with the administration’s election manifesto.
Minister Chowdhury welcomed the delegation, noting the critical role that a robust insurance sector plays in financial resilience and national development. He encouraged SBC to adopt modern risk management practices and innovative insurance solutions that could meet the evolving needs of the economy.
The meeting underscored a shared vision for advancing insurance services in Bangladesh, with both government and SBC officials agreeing on the importance of collaboration, regulatory compliance, and capacity-building.
