A significant development has emerged regarding the treatment of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, as Tarique Rahman’s adviser Mahdi Amin has revealed that preparations are in motion to take her to London. He disclosed this in a Facebook post on Saturday, drawing widespread attention.
According to his statement, Khaleda Zia’s medical care at Evercare Hospital is being handled by a joint team of Bangladeshi and international specialists. From London, Tarique Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman are staying in round-the-clock communication with the medical board. Dr Zubaida, serving as a core member of the board, is coordinating all treatment-related decisions and ensuring seamless cooperation between physicians at home and abroad.
Mahdi Amin noted that while many BNP leaders and supporters attempt to visit daily, infection risks have led hospital authorities to restrict entry to the CCU. Even so, people continue to show their concern from a distance.
He added that the family has initiated detailed preparations to transfer Khaleda Zia to London once her health improves slightly. Contact has already been established with the hospital and doctors who treated her for four months earlier this year, resulting in a notable improvement. Preparations for a state-of-the-art air ambulance are also underway.
He expressed hope that the prayers and goodwill of the nation will help Khaleda Zia recover soon, enabling her to return and once again play a unifying role in the country’s political landscape.
