Seven Urgent Directives Issued for Government Officials

In an effort to safeguard government employees from falling victim to deceptive schemes and online traps, the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh has issued seven critical directives. These were recently circulated to all senior secretaries and secretaries of ministries and divisions through an official letter.

The letter emphasised the importance of heightened vigilance, stating:

“In view of the current situation, you are formally requested to issue guidance to all officials within your ministry, division, and subordinate offices to take extra precautions to remain safe from fraudulent traps.”

Directives for Government Officials

No. Directive
1 Officials are advised to exercise increased caution to avoid falling prey to fraudulent traps.
2 Strict legal action must be taken against individuals involved in such deceitful activities.
3 Any information regarding these crimes should be promptly reported to intelligence or law enforcement agencies to identify the syndicates and take effective action.
4 Officials must avoid disclosing their position, location, or daily activities on social media.
5 Awareness should be raised to avoid engaging with enticing video calls, images, or chats.
6 Caution must be exercised to avoid becoming close with unknown or barely acquainted individuals too quickly.
7 Officials should not share any confidential information, images, or videos via online chats or video calls.

These guidelines are intended to strengthen personal and institutional cybersecurity, particularly amid increasing reports of online scams, blackmail attempts, and identity fraud targeting public servants.

The Cabinet Division has called for immediate dissemination and strict adherence to these directives across all government departments to ensure the safety, privacy, and reputation of public officials.
