Chittagong, 23 January 2026 — Police in Chittagong have recovered two hands and two legs belonging to a young man, in a shocking and grisly discovery that has left the local community deeply unsettled.
The severed limbs were found on Thursday night in the Shahidnagar area under Bayezid Bostami Thana. According to police reports, the hands and legs were tightly wrapped in polythene sheets, and the arteries in the limbs had been deliberately severed.
Forensic examination of the fingerprints confirmed that the limbs belonged to a young man from Raozan, a nearby sub-district of Chittagong. Investigators revealed that both hands had been cut off up to the elbows, while both legs were amputated at the knees. Despite the recovery of the limbs, the remainder of the victim’s body had not yet been located as of Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
Bayezid Bostami Thana’s Officer-in-Charge, Jahedul Kabir, told Prothom Alo that efforts to locate the rest of the body are ongoing. “Our team is conducting extensive operations to trace the remaining parts. Investigation into who may be involved is underway. We hope to provide more comprehensive details by this afternoon,” he stated.
Local residents have expressed shock and fear following the discovery. The brutal nature of the crime has prompted heightened police vigilance in the area. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may aid the investigation.
