Shakib Announces Happy News for Fans, Leaving Criticism Behind

Former world-renowned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan recently drew widespread attention and criticism after extending birthday wishes to the ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At the time, the Youth and Sports Advisor made it clear that Shakib would no longer be allowed to play for the Bangladesh national team. Amid this challenging phase of his career, Shakib received encouraging news about joining a team in Canada’s Super Sixty competition. Now, he has shared more joyous news for his fans through social media.

On Wednesday (1 October), Shakib confirmed on his official Facebook page that he is set to debut in the IL T20 competition representing MI Emirates. He wrote: “I am fully prepared to make my IL T20 debut for MI Emirates! Being part of the MI family is a tremendous honour for me.”

The franchise, owned by Mukesh Ambani, acquired Shakib for approximately 4.8 million Bangladeshi Taka. Although Shakib has played in IPL and other renowned franchise leagues worldwide, this will be his first appearance in the IL T20 tournament.

Shakib will be joining a squad filled with notable players including Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Kamindu Mendis, Fazalhaq Farooqi, along with Andre Fletcher, Usman Khan, Allah Guzanfar, Romario Shepherd, and Mohammad Wasim. Combining batting and bowling strength, MI Emirates has formed a highly competitive team.
