Amid swirling speculation regarding her second pregnancy, Dhallywood actress Shabnom Bubli attended the inauguration of a showroom in Dhaka yesterday, Friday, 6 February, and took the opportunity to laud superstar Shakib Khan. She described the veteran actor as both a guardian and a source of inspiration for the Bangladeshi film industry.
Speaking highly of Shakib Khan’s cinematic contributions, Bubli said, “A Shakib Khan film is always a spectacle. For many years, he has been a cornerstone of our film industry. If the Dhallywood film industry were a university, Shakib Khan would undoubtedly be its principal.” She further added, “He is truly the ‘Prince’ of our artistic domain. I am confident that his upcoming film, Prince, will be a hit. Perhaps we will see the return of the beloved on-screen pairings, just like in Bate-Bale Milla.”
When asked about her personal life and the rumours surrounding motherhood, Bubli tactfully avoided direct comment, stating, “I will speak when the time and circumstances are right.” Reflecting on Valentine’s Day, she elaborated that love, for her, represents respect, trust, faith, sacrifice, and a degree of compromise. She prioritises enduring relationships, family, and cherished memories over material gifts such as money or jewellery, considering these the most meaningful offerings from Shakib.
Bubli also addressed broader industry concerns, emphasising the need for women’s safety, equal opportunities, and job security within the artistic community. While she refrained from making explicit comments on the upcoming national elections, she expressed hope that whichever government comes to power, artists—regardless of gender—will be able to work in a safe and equitable environment.
The table below summarises Bubli’s key statements:
