Shakib Shines with Ball and Bat to Secure Team Victory

Shakib Al Hasan produced a stellar all-round performance to guide his team to a four-wicket victory in his third match of the IL T20 tournament. Playing for MI Emirates, Shakib had struggled in his first two games, failing to make a significant impact with either bat or ball.

With the bat, Shakib had managed only 16 runs from 12 balls in one match, while his bowling yielded 2 overs for 27 and 20 runs respectively in the opening fixtures. Today, however, he reasserted himself as a game-changer at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, against the Desert Vipers.

Shakib bowled four disciplined overs, conceding just 14 runs while taking 2 crucial wickets. Remarkably, in his 24-ball spell, he did not concede a single boundary, and half of his deliveries were dot balls, reflecting his precision and control.

He was introduced into the attack in the seventh over. On the last ball of that over, he struck, dismissing the Pakistani star batsman, claiming his first wicket in the IL T20. Having conceded only 5 runs in the over, he immediately followed up with his second wicket in the next over, further denting the Vipers’ innings.

The ninth over saw Shakib at the heart of another key dismissal. The English all-rounder Sam Curran attempted a risky return catch, only for Shakib to pounce, taking a sharp catch in front of the stumps. He maintained his tight bowling, conceding just 3 runs each in the 11th and 15th overs, effectively choking the Vipers’ scoring opportunities.

Thanks to Shakib’s meticulous bowling, the Desert Vipers were restricted to 124 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Chasing the target, MI Emirates lost six wickets but managed to reach the total with 15 balls to spare. Shakib also contributed significantly with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 17 runs, anchoring his side’s innings and ensuring a comfortable four-wicket victory.
