Forashganj Sporting Club’s striker Shamsunnahar Junior has continued her extraordinary run in the Bangladesh Women’s Football League, securing the Player of the Match award in five consecutive games-a feat rarely witnessed in the competition’s history.
Today, at Kamalapur Stadium, Shamsunnahar’s solitary goal proved decisive as Forashganj edged past title contenders Bangladesh Army 1–0, marking their fifth consecutive league victory. Both teams entered the match unbeaten: Bangladesh Army had won their previous five matches, while Forashganj arrived on a four-match winning streak.
The match’s defining moment came when Shamsunnahar capitalised on a defensive lapse from the Army, receiving the ball just outside the penalty area. With her left foot, she fired a precise shot into the far corner, securing the narrow victory. This win clears a significant hurdle for Forashganj on their path to the title, with their next challenge being the formidable Rajshahi Stars.
Shamsunnahar’s performance this season has been nothing short of remarkable. In her five appearances, she has scored 19 goals and earned Player of the Match honours in every game, initially jointly and subsequently as the sole recipient. Notably, in the previous two matches, she netted four goals in each, despite playing under challenging circumstances, including illness.
Shamsunnahar reflected after the game:
“This match was a real challenge for us. I am delighted that my goal secured the win. Being named Player of the Match five times in a row feels like a record. Today’s left-foot strike was particularly satisfying in such a tough match. I aim to improve further and score even more.”
Forashganj captain Maria Manda emphasised the team’s measured optimism:
“The league isn’t over yet, and tough matches lie ahead. Securing the title will be challenging, but we are confident. Most of the Army players are national team members, so defeating them is a significant achievement for us.”

In addition to receiving 10,000 taka as the official match award, Shamsunnahar was personally gifted 500 taka by a league official, further acknowledging her outstanding performance on the field. If she continues this form, Shamsunnahar is on course to break multiple league records this season.
