The landscape of Bangladeshi rock has shifted once again as the legendary band Aurthohin announced a significant transformation in its lineup. On Thursday, 5 March 2026, the band confirmed the departure of long-standing drummer Mark Don and lead guitarist Ehtesham Ali. However, in a move that has ignited nostalgia across the fanbase, the band also announced the return of the virtuosic guitarist Shishir Ahmed.
Mark Don’t exit marks the end of an era for the band. Having sat behind the kit for nearly a decade, Mark was the rhythmic backbone of Aurthohin during some of its most prolific years. In an emotional tribute posted to social media, the band noted that a decade in the music industry represents a “lifetime of memories.” His percussive influence is etched into the band’s recent discography and countless high-octane live performances. Joining him in the departure is the young talent Ehtesham Ali, who had joined the outfit in January 2025 but has decided to move on after a brief yet impactful tenure.
Perhaps the most exhilarating news for “D-Rockstars” fans is the return of Shishir Ahmed. After leaving the band in 2023 to pursue other ventures, Shishir’s reintegration restores a classic element to the Aurthohin sound. Known for his technical precision and melodic flair, his presence alongside the band’s iconic leader, Saidus Salehin Sumon (famously known as Bassbaba), promises a return to the band’s heavy yet melodic roots.
To fill the void left by the departing members and to expand their sonic palette, the band has introduced new faces and temporary collaborators:
| Role | Musician | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Bass & Vocals | Saidus Salehin Sumon (Bassbaba) | Founding Member |
| Guitars | Shishir Ahmed | Returning Member |
| Guitars & Keyboards | Adnan Atique | New Member |
| Drums | Sheikh M. Riaz | Guest Performer |
Despite the internal turbulence often associated with rock bands, Aurthohin remains steadfast. In a collective statement, the group reassured their followers: “Though faces change, the soul of Aurthohin remains unaltered. We shall return to the studio and prepare for the stage shortly, bringing back that familiar chaos and melody you have always loved.”
With Shishir back in the fold and Adnan Atique adding a multi-instrumental dimension, the band is currently in rehearsal. Fans are eagerly anticipating a new album or a nationwide tour to witness this revamped “chaos” in person. The inclusion of Sheikh M. Riaz as a guest drummer suggests that while the band is in transition, the quality of their live performance remains a top priority.
