Singer Nobel Arrested Over Alleged Harassment

Controversial and widely discussed Bangladeshi singer Moinul Ahsan Nobel has been arrested once again, this time over allegations of coercing a young woman under the pretext of marriage and attempting to produce indecent images. The arrest has sparked renewed media attention, reflecting both the public fascination and concern surrounding the singer’s repeated legal troubles.

Murad Hossain, the Investigating Officer at Demra Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the arrest, stating that it was carried out following a court-issued warrant. “Nobel was taken into custody in accordance with an arrest warrant issued in connection with a case filed against him for detaining a young woman and subjecting her to harassment,” he said.

The arrest occurred on Monday, 23 February, at around 12:30 pm in the Bottola area under Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj. The Demra Police promptly apprehended Nobel, who is currently being held at the police station, pending his presentation before the court.

The allegations against Nobel stem from an incident that reportedly took place last year, on 13 August, when he allegedly lured a young woman with promises of marriage, confined her in his personal studio for a day, and pressured her into creating indecent photographs and videos. Following the incident, the victim filed a formal complaint with the police.

The case underwent a detailed investigation by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), which submitted its report to the court on 2 February this year. On the same day, the court issued arrest warrants against Nobel and three others implicated in the case. Acting on the court’s directive, Demra Police executed the warrant and took Nobel into custody. Procedures to bring him before the court are now underway.
