Site Manager Shot at Mohakhali Construction Site

A shocking act of violence at a construction site in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area has left the local community deeply alarmed. On Sunday afternoon, 42-year-old Md. Nazimuddin, a site manager who has overseen the development of the Seba Nursing Institute for several years, was seriously injured in a deliberate shooting incident.

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, at around 3:30 pm local time, a group of eight to ten masked individuals forcibly entered the under-construction building near the TB Gate area. The intruders reportedly appeared to be searching for a specific engineer. Failing to locate their intended target, they turned their aggression towards Nazimuddin. Eyewitnesses described how the attackers physically assaulted him before firing several shots and fleeing the scene.

Medical authorities confirmed that one bullet penetrated the left side of Nazimuddin’s knee and exited through the opposite side. Prompt action by colleagues ensured that he was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors have reported that while his condition is currently stable, he remains under close monitoring in intensive care.

Speaking to journalists, Nazimuddin’s younger brother, Azimuddin, recounted the harrowing ordeal: “The attackers were masked. They were looking for an engineer, but when they couldn’t find him, they assaulted my brother and shot him before fleeing.”

Police from Banani Thana confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred directly in front of the Seba Nursing Institute. Officer Khulna Munshur stated, “The victim was hit in the leg by gunfire. He is currently at the station, and preparations are underway to file a formal case.”

Authorities are actively investigating the incident, reviewing CCTV footage, and working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Preliminary findings suggest that the attack was premeditated, highlighting significant gaps in the security arrangements at the construction site and the vulnerability of staff on duty.

The incident has sparked widespread fear among local residents, who have demanded heightened security measures. Law enforcement officials have pledged to employ every available resource to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
